Lyndoch Lavender Farm

Gourmet Lavender Dessert Platter
While on a wine tasting tour around the Barossa Valley, we stop by the Lyndoch Lavender Farm and Café. Here, I am tempted by the petite five course lavender desserts platter. Lavender is such a rare ingredient in Australian cooking yet it lends such a wonderful flavour to desserts especially chocolate. Instore you will also find a unique range of gourmet lavender products including jam, chutney, honey and also lavender beauty products.

Citrus

Chilli, Garlic and Basil Scrambled Free Range Eggs with Lyndoch Valley Bacon and Charred Soughdough $13
Smoked Ham, Slow Roasted Tomato and Ashgrove Cheese Omelette $14.9
French Toast with Mixed Berry Compote, Citrus Curd and Mascarpone $14.9

Citrus is located in the cosmopolitan Hutt Street in the city, which is known for its fine breakfasts. The restaurant was established in 1996 and serves Mediterranean cuisine.

The Food
  • The scrambled eggs were fresh and had a nice creamy consistency. The addition of chilli and garlic really added some extra zing and made them standout
  • The omelette was similarly made well using fresh free-range eggs, it was a lovely golden colour on the outside and full of delicious filling on the inside
  • The French toast was topped sufficiently with berries and was delightfully sweet and tart at the same time
